ANNE WANG
KAREN HANSEN
VIRGINIA VILCHIS
reception: December 3, 2017
LA Artcore is pleased to present a three-person exhibit at LA Artcore's Lincoln Heights exhibition space in the Brewery Arts Colony.
The paintings of Burbank artist Karen Hansen suggest expansion by modulating color and expressing light as magically and effortlessly shifting. In the artist's most recent works, Hansen employs multiple panels that combine to form a single image. Each spaced by one inch together, Hansen utilizes and implies her works' architectural surroundings, developing concise relationships between expanse and boundary.
The paintings of South Bay artist Virginia Vilchis capture unbridled moments of the creative process. Using mixed media such as water-based paints, ink, stencils and found objects, Vilchis' paintings draw the gaze into its numerously-layered surfaces that express the energy and complexity of urban culture.
L.A. artist Anne Wang combines animated portraiture and landscapes, breaking their spaces abstractly through geometric forms, and suggesting a simultaneity between abstraction and representation. (P. Reddy)
